This thesis is titled Development of E-Comic Assisted by Figma and
Flipbook on Reading Biography Texts of Malay Figures for Senior High School
Students. This research is motivated by the low reading interest and
comprehension of students in reading biography texts, especially those related to
Malay figures. There is a need for innovative and technology-based digital
teaching materials that incorporate Malay cultural values to make learning more
contextual and engaging. Therefore, an e-comic learning media was developed
using Figma and Flipbook, featuring the biographies of Malay figures in a visual
and interactive format.
The purpose of this study is to develop an e-comic assisted by figma and
flipbook that can improve students' skills in reading biography texts. This
research employs the Research and Development (RnD) method using the
Hannafin and Peck model. The stages of research include needs analysis, design,
development, and implementation. The product was validated by language
experts, subject matter experts, and media experts to ensure the feasibility of the
developed e-comic media.
The research results show that the e-comic assisted by figma and flipbook
on reading biography texts of Malay figures successfully enhanced students'
comprehension and reading interest. Students experienced a significant
improvement in understanding the content of biography texts. The e-comic also
captured students’ attention and facilitated independent learning due to its
appealing design and culturally relevant storyline.
In conclusion, the development of the e-comic assisted by figma and
flipbook can improve students’ ability to read biography texts that contain Malay
cultural elements. Digital technology and local cultural content have proven
effective in increasing students' interest and engagement in the learning process.
