Writing anecdotal texts is one of the subjects in the Indonesian language curriculum that 10th-grade high school students need to master. To meet the students' needs in mastering the skill of writing anecdotal texts, effective and high-quality learning media are required to achieve the learning objectives. This thesis was written to determine the development of a module that uses stand-up comedy as one of the supporting factors in the learning process of anecdote text material. Stand-up comedy videos can help students understand anecdote text material in a more varied way during the learning process.
Qualitative methods were used in this study. Qualitative methods are appropriate for research objects that can be described descriptively. This study, titled “Development of a Module for Writing Anecdotal Texts Assisted by Stand-up comedy,” was conducted on tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru and Madrasah Aliyah Ummatan Wasathan Pesantren Teknologi Riau.
According to the research results, there was a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes after using the stand-up comedy-assisted module. This was evident from the observations made by the researcher during the anecdote writing learning process in the classroom. It was observed that students were more capable of expressing ideas, vocabulary, proper spelling and grammar usage, and evaluation with very satisfactory quality.
The profile or form of the developed module is highly engaging, effectively capturing students' attention and encouraging them to study more diligently. The module's structure is comprehensive and aligns with the criteria for an effective and efficient module. It includes usage guidelines, content that is easier for students to understand, and structured assessment techniques, all of which motivate students to achieve better grades.
