Tingkat Keramahan Lingkungan Alat Tangkap Mini Purse Seine Di Kelurahan Galang Baru Kecamatan Galang Kota Batam Provinsi Kepulauan Riau

Galang Baru Village is one of the areas in Galang Subdistrict where fishing activities using mini purse seine nets are commonly found. This study aims to determine the environmental friendliness of mini purse seine fishing gear used by fishermen in Galang Baru Village based on the criteria of the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) (1995) and sub-criteria according to Taeran (2014), using eight criteria and sub-criteria (Sormin et al., 2023). The research methods used were surveys and direct interviews with 17 fishermen and 3 boat owners. The results showed that mini purse seine fishing gear is very environmentally friendly with a score of 25.15, where six of the eight criteria were considered friendly, and the other two criteria, namely selectivity and bycatch, still need improvement. In conclusion, mini purse seine is still suitable for use with adjustments to the mesh size to make it more selective and sustainable.
