Aplikasi Biochar Sekam Padi Dan Pupuk Npk Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Produksi Cabai Rawit (Capsicum Frutescens L.)
ABSTRACT
Bird’s eye chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the most important vegetable commodities in Indonesia with high economic value, yet its productivity in Riau Province decreased by 822 tons from 2022 to 2023, indicating the need for more effective cultivation technologies. Fertilization combined with the application of rice husk biochar is considered a promising approach to improve soil quality and increase crop productivity. This study was conducted using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: rice husk biochar at four levels (0, 2, 4, and 6) t/ha and NPK fertilizer at three levels (250, 300, and 350) kg/ha. The observed parameters included plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, and fruit weight per plot, and data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by an Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the interaction between rice husk biochar and NPK fertilizer had no significant effect on all observed parameters; however, rice husk biochar independently increased the number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, and fruit weight per plot, while NPK fertilizer significantly improved plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, and fruit weight per plot. The combination of 6 t/ha rice husk biochar and 350 kg/ha NPK fertilizer was identified as the best treatment to improve yield-related traits, thus highlighting the important role of biochar and NPK fertilizer in enhancing the growth and production of bird’s eye chili.
