penerapan model pembelajaran poe berbantuan pop-up book untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan pemahaman konsep gerak dan gaya peserta didik kelas vii smp/mTS sederajat
This study was motivated by problems in science education, particularly in
understanding physics concepts. One factor that influences students' understanding
of concepts is learning motivation, but teaching in schools is still dominated by
lecture methods. Experiments are rarely conducted due to limited equipment, while
the learning media commonly used are worksheets and printed books. This situation
has led to low levels of concept understanding (61%) and learning motivation
(64%) among students. To address these issues, innovative teaching strategies are
needed to optimize student activities and learning outcomes. One solution that can
be applied is the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) model assisted by pop-up books,
which encourages students to actively predict, observe, and explain the concepts
being studied. This approach makes learning more interactive, increases student
engagement, and optimizes their conceptual understanding and learning
motivation.
This study aims to: 1) determine whether students who apply the POE
learning model assisted by pop-up books have a better understanding of the concept
than students who apply the conventional learning model; 2) determine whether
students who apply the POE learning model assisted by pop-up books have better
learning motivation than students who apply the conventional learning model; 3)
to determine whether there is a difference in conceptual understanding between
students who apply the POE learning model assisted by pop-up books and students
who apply the conventional learning model; 4) to determine whether there is a
difference in learning motivation between students who apply the POE learning
model assisted by pop-up books and students who apply the conventional learning
model. The research began with the development of learning tools using the POE
learning model assisted by pop-up books. The developed tools were tested for
validity. After being declared valid, they were then implemented in schools.
This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a posttest-only control
group design. There are two classes: an experimental class and a control class. The
variables in this study consist of the POE learning model assisted by pop-up books
as the independent variable, and students' conceptual understanding and learning
motivation as the dependent variables. The population in this study consists of all
seventh-grade students at Mts Darul Falah Langgam for the 2024/2025 academic
year, comprising three classes with a total of 72 students. The sample in this study
consists of 48 students, including 24 students from Class VII. A (control class) and
24 students from Class VII. B (experimental class).
Data collection techniques used test techniques in the form of written tests
in the for Data m of post-tests consisting of multiple-choice questions and non-test
xiv
techniques using student learning motivation questionnaires. Data analysis
techniques for hypothesis testing used MANOVA analysis, preceded by prerequisite
tests including normality and homogeneity tests. The post-test results for the
experimental class's conceptual understanding ability obtained an average score
of 78, while the control class obtained an average score of 62. A significant
difference in conceptual understanding ability was obtained with a sig. (p) value of
0.000. The post-test results for conceptual understanding ability showed that the
experimental class obtained better scores than the control class, and there was a
significant difference in the application of the POE learning model assisted by popup
books. Furthermore, the results of the learning motivation of students in the
experimental class obtained an average of 68, while the average learning
motivation of students in the control class was 58. A significant difference in student
learning motivation was obtained with a sig. (p) value of 0.000.
The results of the student learning motivation questionnaire assessment
show that the experimental class obtained a better percentage than the control
class, and there was a significant difference in the application of the POE learning
model assisted by pop-up books on student learning motivation. Based on the
research findings and data analysis, it can be concluded that the application of the
POE learning model assisted by pop-up books has an impact on students'
conceptual understanding and learning motivation compared to using conventional
learning models.
