indonesian – english code-switching analysis in “the alpha girl’s guide: menjadi cewek smart, independen dan anti galau” book by henry manampiring
This research explores the phenomenon of Indonesian-English code-switching in Henry Manampiring’s motivational book "The Alpha Girl’s Guide: Menjadi Cewek Smart, Independen, dan Anti Galau." The research was conducted to identify the types of code-switching used in the text. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method and Poplack’s (1980) code-switching framework, the research collected data through document analysis. The findings revealed 298 instances of code-switching, dominated by intra-sentential switching (89.26%), followed by inter-sentential switching (10.07%), and tag switching (0.67%). The frequent use of intra-sentential switching indicates the influence of bilingual language practices among Indonesian youth. This research highlights how code-switching serves not only linguistic purposes but also socio-cultural ones, strengthening message delivery, emotional resonance, and audience engagement in motivational literature.
