Identifikasi Soil Transmitted Helminth Pada Berbagai Jenis Sayur Lalapan Di Pasar Tradisional Kota Pekanbaru
Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) are a group of intestinal worms that cause infestations in the body and are transmitted through soil contaminated with infested human feces. The presence of STH in the soil can increase the risk of contamination in vegetables grown in soil. This study aims to determine the incidence of STH and other worm contamination found in fresh vegetables, namely basil, lettuce, and cabbage in traditional markets in Pekanbaru City. This study was conducted from July to November 2025. The method used was cross-sectional, with observations of the presence of STH and other worms in basil, lettuce, and cabbage sold by traders in traditional markets in Pekanbaru City. The results showed that the incidence of STH and other worm contamination was relatively high compared to previous studies with figures reaching 75%. It was found that 45 of 60 vegetables were contaminated with STH and other worms with the most species found being Ascaris lumbricoides in the form of eggs (61.67%). The results of the study also showed a decrease in the level of STH and other worm contamination in vegetables that were washed twice using a 0.9% NaCl solution, but bacteria were still found.
