students’ perception of audiobook usage in supporting english listening skill on sma education 21 pekanbaru
This research aims to understand how students at SMA Education 21 Pekanbaru perceive the use of audiobooks in improving their English listening skills. Listening plays a crucial role in language learning, yet many students struggle to access engaging and authentic materials. Audiobooks offer a practical and appealing solution, providing meaningful audio content that supports vocabulary growth, better pronunciation, and improved comprehension. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, this study involved all first- and second-year students as participants. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring students’ cognitive, affective, and conative responses." The results showed that most students responded positively to the use of audiobooks. They felt more motivated, found it easier to understand spoken English, and were more willing to include audiobooks in their learning habits. These outcomes suggest that audiobooks can be a useful addition to English lessons, especially to support listening development. However, as the study focused on a single school and relied on self-reported data, further research across multiple institutions and using varied methods is recommended to better understand the benefits of audiobooks in language learning.
