development of interactive powerpoint as a learning media for teaching reading explanatory text at senior high schools
This research aimed to develop an interactive PowerPoint as a learning medium to teach reading skills, specifically focusing on explanatory text s for senior high school students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method based on the ADDIE model, limited to the analysis, design, and development stages. A needs analysis revealed that teachers often relied on non-interactive, textbook-based methods, leading to student disengagement and difficulty in understanding explanatory texts. the media was designed to align with the Merdeka Curriculum and incorporate multimodal elements such as audio, video, animations, and interactive quizzes. Validation was conducted by material, media, and pedagogical experts, yielding a mean score of 3.67 out of 4, categorized as “very valid”. The findings suggest that interactive PowerPoint effectively support independent and engaging learning, enhances student motivation, and addresses challenges in explanatory texts. This media development contributes to digital literacy and promotes active learning aligned with 21st century education goals.
