identifying mistakes by students of sman 5 pekanbaru in language features of descriptive texts in indonesia-english translation
This research examines the ability of the first-grade students of SMAN 5 Pekanbaru to identify mistakes in the language features of descriptive texts within Indonesian-English translations. Employing a quantitative descriptive method, a grammar test comprising 25 multiple-choice questions was conducted with 42 students. The findings indicate that most students (86%) achieved an “Excellent” category, with a mean score of 92.10. Detailed analysis of specific grammar topics, including comparison degrees, prepositions, pronouns, simple present tense, and simple past tense, revealed consistently high performance, with all topics rated as "Excellent." These results demonstrate the students’ strong grammatical competence and the effectiveness of instructional strategies. Recommendations are offered for students to engage in additional practice, for teachers to enhance teaching methods, and for future researchers to investigate other contexts or larger populations.
