the effect of transition-action-details (tad) strategy on improving students’ writing ability on recount text
This research, entitled ―The Effect of Transition-Action-Details (TAD) Strategy on Improving Students’ Writing Ability in Recount Texts,‖ aims to examine whether the TAD strategy significantly enhances students’ ability to write recount texts. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Apit, involving 34 students from Class X.1 as the research sample. A pre-experimental design employing a one-group pre-test and post-test method was used. Students were given a writing test before and after the implementation of the TAD strategy. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ writing performance, with the average score increasing from 49.80 to 68.20. The paired sample t-test yielded a calculated t-value of 6.101, which exceeded the critical t-table value of 2.034, indicating a statistically significant difference. Further analysis of the five writing components showed that the form aspect demonstrated the greatest improvement, followed by fluency, mechanics, grammar, and vocabulary. These findings indicate that the TAD strategy effectively helps students organize their ideas, develop coherent paragraphs, and express their thoughts more fluently in recount texts. In conclusion, the study affirms that the Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy is an effective instructional approach for enhancing students’ writing skills in recount texts and is recommended for use in English language teaching.
