Komposisi Hasil Tangkapan Jaring Insang Hanyut (Drift Gill Net) Nelayan Bagan Hulu Kabupaten Rokan Hilir Provinsi Riau

Capture fisheries are activities that involve catching or collecting aquatic organisms, both animals and plants, that live naturally in the sea or public waters. This study aims to identify the composition of drift gill net catches in the waters of Bagan Hulu, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province, in terms of weight, number of individuals, main catch and bycatch, as well as fishing methods. The method used in this study was a survey, namely the collection of data and information directly through field observations with fishermen. Data was collected for 7 consecutive days. Data collection and sample measurement were carried out by sorting the main catch, bycatch, and discards. Data analysis techniques used descriptive methods. The drift gillnet catch in the Bagan Hulu waters consisted of five fish species, with gulamah (Micropogonias undulatus) dominating the catch with 119 fish weighing 32.3 kg, followed by sembilang (Euristhmus microceps) with 78 fish weighing 20.3 kg, and senangin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) with 47 fish weighing 6 kg. Spiny fish (Plicofollis dussumieri) and jumpul fish (Ellochelon vaigiensis) were bycatch, with 27 fish (10.8 kg) and 15 fish (5.2 kg), respectively. The average weight per individual differed between species, ranging from around 128 g/fish for senangin fish (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) to around 400 g/fish for spiny fish (Plicofollis dussumieri). The capture mechanism was influenced by the 2.8-inch mesh size and fish morphology. Senangin fish (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) were predominantly caught through gilled, gulamah fish through gilled and entangled, sembilang fish (Euristhmus microceps) tended to be entangled, duri fish (Plicofollis dussumieri) were entangled due to pectoral spines, and jumpul fish (Ellochelon vaigiensis) were mostly caught through entangled.
