metafora konseptual dalam lirik lagu pada album leo-nIne karya lIsa
This study discusses conceptual metaphors in the song lyrics from the Leo-Nine album by LiSA. The aim of this research is to identify the types of conceptual metaphors and to explain the meanings contained in the lyrics of the Leo-Nine album. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with a cognitiive semantics approach and the conceptual metaphor theory proposed by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson.
The conceptual metaphors in this study are analyzed based on the mapping between the source domain and the target domain, which reflects how humans understand abstract concepts through concrete experiences. The research data consist of fifteen song lyrics from the Leo-Nine album that contain metaphorical expressions.
The results of the study show that there are three types of conceptual metaphors used in the lyrics: structural metaphors, which map concepts such as life and spirit through structures like sequels and explosions; orientational metaphors, which depict freedom as an entrance to a new space; and ontological metaphors, which concretize abstract concepts such as the future, destiny, and emotions into tangible objects like canvas, gewars, and storms. A subcategory of ontological metaphors, personification, is also found, attributing human characteristics to abstract entities such as time, the world, and the lines of fate.
Thus, the use of metaphors in the Leo-Nine lyrics serves not only as a stylistic device but also as a conceptual means to understand emotions and experiences more deeply. This study demonstrates that Japanese song lyrics can be a subject of linguistic research that represents the ways of thinking and the culture of their speakers.
