In the increasingly competitive business environment of the globalization era, companies are required to employ high-quality personnel. PT. Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk, Pekanbaru Branch, recognizes this necessity and implements the Training As Selection (TAS) program as a strategic communication approach to enhance the work competence of prospective employees. The program serves not only as a selection tool but also as a medium for developing professional competencies. This study aims to analyze the company’s communication strategy in determining communicators, designing messages, selecting communicants, choosing appropriate channels or media, and examining the responses of prospective employees toward the implemented strategy within the TAS program.
This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive techniques. Data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation.
The findings reveal that the communication strategy of PT. Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk in the Training As Selection (TAS) program is structured and effective. Trainers were selected based on credibility, attractiveness, and competence to deliver training materials designed by the head office with interactive flexibility and continuous evaluation. Prospective employees were selected through psychological, interview, and technical tests to ensure potential and cultural alignment. The communication utilized both direct (face-to-face) and indirect (Google Meet, Alfa Learning) media, with direct media proving more effective. Participants generally howed positive responses, indicating that informative and interactive communication enhanced their understanding of the material, cultural adaptation, and work readiness.
