This research aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by
instructional videos on student learning outcomes. The population consisted of all 150 students of
Grade XI Social Studies at SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru. A total of 70 students were randomly selected
as the sample and divided into two groups: the experimental class (XI G) and the control class (XI H),
with 35 students each. Data were collected through tests (pre-test and post-test), observation, and
documentation. The research instruments included learning outcome test sheets and student activity
observation sheets. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, t-tests, and N-Gain tests with
SPSS version 26. The results showed that the use of the PBL model assisted by video had a positive
and significant effect on students' learning outcomes. The post-test average score of the experimental
class (86.14) was higher than that of the control class (82.14), and the learning outcome improvement
in the experimental class was greater than in the control class. The N-Gain test indicated an effective
level of improvement. Thus, the PBL model assisted by instructional videos is effective in improving
students’ learning outcomes and enhancing their activeness, participation, and understanding of the
learning material.
