Quality Of Life Pasien Pasca Sistektomi Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2020-2023
Bladder cancer is a malignancy originating from urothelial cells lining the inner surface of the bladder and is one of the most common urological cancers, particularly in elderly males. Risk factors include smoking, exposure to industrial chemicals, and chronic urinary tract infections. Early symptoms such as hematuria and dysuria are often overlooked, leading to delayed diagnosis. Cystectomy is the primary treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), but the procedure can significantly impact patients’ quality of life. This study aims to describe the quality of life of bladder cancer patients after undergoing cystectomy at Arifin Achmad General Hospital, Riau Province, from January 2020 to December 2023. This was a cross-sectional study using medical record data collected from February to April 2025. A total of 43 patients were selected using a total sampling technique. The results showed that the majority of patients were aged 65–74 years (46.5%) and male (81.4%), with stage IV cancer being the most common (39.5%). Based on the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire, physical domain scores were mostly in the good category (74.4%), while the psychological (72.1%), social (67.4%), and environmental (79.1%) domains were mostly poor. According to the EORTC QLQ-BLM30 questionnaire, functional status was mostly moderate (46.5%), symptoms were mostly mild (55.8%), and general health status was mostly moderate (41.8%). The quality of life among post-cystectomy patients varied, with the greatest impairments observed in the psychological, social, and environmental aspects.
