The purpose of this study is 1) To determine and analyze the level of
social skills of BUMKam administrators in Kampung Maredan Barat Kecamatan
Tualang Kabupaten Siak, 2) To determine and analyze the level of community
participation in Kampung Maredan Barat Kecamatan Tualang Kabupaten Siak, 3)
To determine whether there is an influence and how much influence the social
skills of BUMKam administrators (Village-Owned Enterprises) have on
community participation in Kampung Maredan Barat Kecamatan Tualang
Kabupaten Siak.
This type of research is ex-post facto, which is a type of research whose
independent variable is an event that has already occurred, with a quantitative
approach. The population in this study is the community within 100 meters of the
Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMKam). as many as 180. With a research sample
of 64 taken using simple random sampling (simple random sampling).
The data collection method in this study is by: (1) observation, (2)
questionnaire. The research instrument consists of two forms of questionnaires
consisting of: (1) Community participation, and (2) Social skills. The research
instrument goes through several stages, namely: (1) reviewing all theories related
to the variables to be studied, (2) compiling indicators for each variable, (3)
compiling a grid, (4) compiling statement items and determining the measurement

scale, (5) instrument trials, (6) analysis of question items by testing the validity
and reliability of each statement item.
Based on the results of the data description, it is known that the mean
value of community participation is 3.96. This value means that in general the
level of community participation is in the high category. This means that most
people have actively participated in various activities carried out by BUMKAM in
the community.
Then it is known that the average (mean) value of the social skills of
BUMKAM administrators according to the community's view is 3.86. This value
means that, in general, the community considers the social skills possessed by
BUMKAM administrators to be in the high category. This means that the
administrators are considered quite capable of interacting, communicating, and
building good relationships with the community.
In addition, the results of this study indicate that there is a significant
relationship between the social skills of BUMKAM administrators and
community participation and social skills (X) and have a positive and significant
effect on community participation (Y). The better the social skills possessed by
BUMKAM administrators, the higher the community participation in various
activities held. The magnitude of the influence of social skills on community
participation in this study was 43.7%. This means that 43.7% of the variation in
community participation can be explained by the social skills of BUMKAM
managers, while the rest is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
