This study aims to describe the implementation of culinary (tataboga)
learning to improve the vocational skills of students with intellectual disabilities
at SLB Negeri Pembina Pekanbaru. The research used a qualitative method with
data collected through field observation, interviews, and documentation studies.
The results show that the learning process was quite effective, supported by
adequate facilities and infrastructure, the application of appropriate teaching
strategies tailored to student characteristics, and strong support from both
teachers and parents. Students showed enthusiasm and were able to follow
instructions well during the learning activities. The main obstacle encountered
was the lack of teaching assistants during practical sessions, but this was
mitigated by the active involvement of parents. Overall, the implementation of
culinary learning has positively contributed to equipping students with intellectual
disabilities with vocational skills to support their future independence.
