Ekstraksiβ-Karotendarirumput Laut Merah (Gelidium Spinosum) Denganpelarutberbeda
This study aims to determine the yield, moisture content, ash content, sulfate content, extract yield, functional groups, spectral patterns, β-carotene content, and antioxidant activity. The method used was a complete randomized non-factorial design with three levels of treatment, namely using ethanol, acetone, and n-hexane solvents, and repeated three times. The results of the chemical analysis of G. spinosum flour showed a moisture content of 12.36%, ash content of 10.19%, and sulfate content of 5.70%. The extraction yields of G. spinosum ethanol (14.4%), acetone (12.8%), and n-hexane (11.6%) were determined. Functional group analysis showed that the extract of G. spinosum contained β-carotene compounds, indicated by the presence of conjugated double carbon bonds (C=C) and C-H groups. The peaks of the ethanol extract spectrum were at wavelengths of 411 nm and 433 nm, the acetone extract at 413 nm, and the n-hexane extract at 415 nm and 441 nm. The β-carotene content in the ethanol extract was 11.97 µg/g, in the acetone extract 17.96 µg/g, and in the n-hexane extract 25.86 µg/g. The antioxidant activity of the three extracts was indicated by the IC50 values of each extract, namely 288.96 ppm for the ethanol extract, 168.06 ppm for the acetone extract, and 143.04 ppm for the n-hexane extract. This study shows that the n-hexane extract has strong antioxidant potential among the three extracts tested.
