Evaluasi Tingkat Keberhasilan Rehabilitasi Mangrove Di Desa Serusa Kecamatan Bangko Kabupaten Rokan Hilir
ABSTRACT
Damage to the mangrove ecosystem in Riau has prompted various
rehabilitation programs, but the success rate remains low. This study aims to
determine the success rate of mangrove rehabilitation in Serusa Village, Bangko
District, Rokan Hilir Regency, and the factors that influence it, as well as strategies
to support its success. The research method used a survey approach with systematic
sampling techniques in a 40-hectare rehabilitation area. Data collection was carried
out by creating six transect lines perpendicular to the coastline with 5x5 m
observation plots on each line. The parameters measured included seedling survival
rate, water quality (temperature, salinity, pH), substrate quality (pH, salinity, type),
microclimate conditions (temperature and humidity), tides, distance from the
location to the coastline, and the presence of pests. The results of the study showed
that the overall survival rate of mangroves was only 38.9%, which is considered
unsuccessful based on Minister of Forestry Regulation No. P.70/Menhut-II/2008.
The main inhibiting factors identified are pH and substrate type, interactions
between temperature and environmental humidity, tides, distance of planting
location from the coastline, and the presence of barnacles (Balanus sp.) around the
planting area. Strategies to improve success include site suitability studies, followup
programs such as maintenance, monitoring and evaluation, as well as outreach
and education activities.
