In the context of life, quality of life is an important aspect that must be maintained in order to live well. This quality of life is particularly influential among patients with hypertension, and to maintain it, they are required to engage in physical activity to help regulate blood pressure and promote calorie burning in the body. This study was conducted at the Internal Medicine Clinic of Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital, Riau in 2025. The aim of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship between physical activity and quality of life among patients with hypertension. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling with an observational analytic design. Direct interviews were conducted with hypertensive patients who were already taking medication using the Sedentary Behaviour Questionnaire (SBQ) to assess physical activity and the WHOQOL-BREF to assess quality of life. The results of this study showed that among the 97 respondents, most were aged 45–54 years and 65–74 years (28.8%), and the majority were female, totaling 62 participants (63.9%). Controlled blood pressure was found in 51 respondents (52.6%). The most common sedentary behavior among hypertensive patients was high sedentary behavior (≥15 hours per week), totaling 50 participants (51.5%). Furthermore, most patients had a good quality of life, totaling 81 participants (83.5%). However, bivariate statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship (p > 0.05) between physical activity and quality of life among hypertensive patients at Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital, Riau.
