Pola komunikasi organisasi sispala eureka sma negeri 2 Bukittinggi dalam meningkatkan komitmen anggota
This study aims to examine the communication patterns within the Sispala Eureka organization at SMA Negeri 2 Bukittinggi in enhancing member commitment and to identify communication barriers faced by the organization. The background of this research is based on the declining interest and participation of students in organizational activities, which is presumed to be related to the effectiveness of the communication patterns applied.
The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants in this study consist of the organization’s supervisor, chairperson, active members, and alumni of Sispala Eureka. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The findings indicate that the communication pattern in Sispala Eureka is flexible and two-way, combining the wheel pattern and all-channel pattern as described by Joseph DeVito. This pattern promotes active member involvement and supports the formation of affective and normative commitment, as explained in the organizational commitment theory by Allen and Meyer. However, communication barriers were also identified and categorized into technical, semantic, and human- related barriers. These barriers affected the participation of some members, particularly new ones. The organization has taken various measures to address these obstacles through improved internal communication, the involvement of alumni, and better documentation practices. In conclusion, effective communication patterns play a significant role in maintaining and enhancing member commitment in school-based extracurricular organizations.
