Karakteristik Habitat Dan Kelimpahan Kerang Kijing (Unio Pictorum) Di Sungai Pengambang Kelurahan Okura Kecamatan Rumbai Pesisir Pekanbaru
Characteristics of Habitat and Abundance of Kijing Clams (Unio pictorum) in Pengambang River, Rumbai Pesisir, Pekanbaru. This study aims to analyze the habitat characteristics and abundance of the freshwater mussel Unio pictorum in the Pengambang River, Rumbai Pesisir District, Pekanbaru City. The research was conducted from April to June 2025 using a survey method with 1 × 1 m quadrat plots across five observation stations. Data analysis included the Brower et al. (1990) method, the Morisita Index, and a one-way ANOVA test. The results showed that U. pictorum was predominantly found on muddy-sand substrates with organic matter content ranging from 0.82–5.43% and flow velocity from 0.06–0.18 m/s. Water quality parameters included temperature of 28.3–31.0°C, pH of 5.0–6.0, dissolved oxygen of 3.8–5.0 mg/L, and transparency of 26–45 cm, which were still within the optimal range for aquatic organisms. The abundance of U. pictorum ranged from 0– 24.3 ind/m² with an average of 11.4 ind/m², dominant shell length of 69.8–77.1 mm, and exhibited both uniform and clustered distribution patterns. Theseresultsindicate that the environmental conditions of the Pengambang River support the growth of the invasive U. pictorum, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring and population management to maintain the ecological balance of the aquatic environment.
