This study aims to analyze the reproductive health communication strategies employed by the Instagram account @pcosfighterindonesia in enhancing awareness and knowledge of reproductive health among women suffering from PCOS. Amid the high prevalence of PCOS, which impacts not only physical but also mental health, the Instagram account @pcosfighterindonesia emerges as an educational platform that integrates the delivery of information through visual, narrative, and interactive communication with healthcare professionals. The research questions address: (1) What is the communication strategy in conveying messages to increase women's awareness of women's reproductive health on @pcosfighterinfonesia Instagram account (2) Are the media channels used in conveying messages to increase women's awareness of women's reproductive health on @pcosfighterinfonesia Instagram account (3) How does the audience influence the delivery of messages acknowledged by the Instagram account @pcosfighterindonesia in order to increase awareness of women's reproductive health.
This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods and media text analysis. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the account owner and followers, digital content observation, and documentation analysis, which included infographics, short videos, and interactions via Instagram features such as live streaming and Q&A sessions.
The results of the study show that (1) the message delivery strategy is carried out through a simple but empathetic educational approach, the use of personal narratives from survivors (testimonials), and collaboration with health professionals. The message is conveyed persuasively, not patronizing, and tailored to the needs of the audience. (2) The media channels used are predominantly feed features for visual education, stories for quick reminders and light interactions, and live sessions for in-depth live discussions. This strategy is adjusted to the media consumption behavior of women of productive age as the target audience. (3) The impact of this account communication includes increased understanding of PCOS (cognitive), the growth of empathy and a sense of community in the digital community (affective), as well as behavioral changes towards healthy living such as diet, exercise, and routine medical consultation.
