Perancangan Museum Sejarah Laksemana Raja Dilaut Dan Budaya Di Kabupaten Bengkalis Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Neo-Vernakular
ABSTRACT
Museums are institutions that collect, care, and exhibit items for educational, research, and recreational purposes. Museums in Indonesia are historical sites to protect cultural heritage and provide information about human civilization. In Bengkalis, there are many historical buildings even though many are extinct. One of the important sites is the Datuk Laksemana Ali Akbar House which has high historical value and an important symbol in Malay maritime history, but is less visited. The condition of lack of visits is caused by social and economic changes, as well as the difficulty of access. This house has Traditional Malay Architecture and requires a grant and is protected as a cultural heritage. The design of the Laksemana Raja Dilaut History and Culture Museum in Bengkalis Regency uses a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach by combining physical and non-physical components. The design stage begins with the identification of existing problems to implement the design. After all the data is collected, an analysis is carried out on the location, building function, space program, building system, and the application of the design theme in the form of a design concept. This idea became the design reference and became the basis for the application of Neo-Vernacular Architecture as an architectural motif in the design of the Laksemana Raja Dilaut History and Culture Museum. This idea emerged as a result of the collection and organization of the various analytical results needed for design. The concept of the building is the Malay ark, which is a traditional Malay large ship to sail in the sea, river or strait. The Malay ark symbolizes the journey, resilience, and continuity of the Malay nation. Datuk Laksemana Ali Akbar's house showcases the architectural and cultural heritage of Malay leadership. As the Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach will reflect the local culture and maintain the characteristics of Local Architecture, namely Bengkalis Malay Architecture with modern elements that are more attractive to local tourists and foreign tourists to use the facilities at the Laksemana Raja Dilaut History and Culture Museum.
