Perancangan Terminal Bus Dengan Pendekatan Behavior Architecture Di Kota Duri
ABSTRACT
The increasing number of intercity bus users in Duri City has created spatial and circulation challenges due to the inappropriate location of the current informal bus gathering point situated along the Trans-Sumatra Highway intersection. This condition contributes to traffic congestion, uncontrolled vehicle circulation, and inefficient land use, thereby disrupting the urban spatial structure and visual order of the city. In accordance with Law Number 14 of 1992 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, a terminal functions as a transportation infrastructure that facilitates the movement, transfer, and organization of passengers and goods. Therefore, the absence of a formal terminal area in Duri City indicates an imbalance between transportation demand and spatial capacity. This paper aims to propose the design of a Bus Terminal in Duri City as an integrated urban node capable of reorganizing circulation patterns and restoring spatial order through the Behavior Architecture Approach Concept. This approach emphasizes the relationship between user behavior, spatial configuration, and activity patterns, ensuring that spatial design responds adaptively to the dynamic needs of bus users, operators, and surrounding communities. The design process involves spatial behavior mapping, circulation pattern analysis, and functional zoning based on user flow and environmental context. The expected outcome is a terminal design that not only functions as an efficient transportation hub but also enhances urban spatial quality, minimizes congestion, and redefines the city’s mobility structure. This research contributes to the development of sustainable urban transportation facilities that integrate behavioral-based design principles with spatial planning policies.
