pengembangan e-lkpd berbasis problem based learning (pbl) dengan pendekatan socio scientific issues (ssi) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan kolaborasi peserta didik pada materi asam basa
Learning chemistry requires students to understand abstract concepts that are often difficult to transform into concrete learning experiences. One of the topics considered complex is acid-base. Observations and interviews with teachers indicate that the instructional media used in schools remain conventional, in the form of printed Student Worksheets (LKPD), which are less interactive and not specifically designed to develop students' critical thinking and collaboration skills. On the other hand, these skills are essential components of 21st-century competencies that students must possess in the modern era. This challenge underscores the need to develop innovative, technology-based learning materials that not only deliver content informatively but also foster students’ ability to think critically and work collaboratively to solve contextual problems.
This study aimed to develop an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and the Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) approach that is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills on acid-base material. The developed product is expected to serve as an alternative learning medium that encourages active student engagement in the learning process, promotes deeper conceptual understanding, and cultivates awareness of scientific and social issues relevant to real life.
This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through teacher interviews, expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, critical thinking tests, and collaboration skill observation sheets. Validation was carried out by four subject matter experts and three media experts. A limited trial was conducted through one-on-one testing with three students of high, medium, and low academic ability. Practicality and effectiveness testing involved three teachers and thirty students from three high schools in Pekanbaru: SMAN 8 Pekanbaru, SMAN 14 Pekanbaru, and SMA IT Imam Syafii 2 Pekanbaru. The effectiveness test was specifically conducted at SMAN 14 Pekanbaru using a pretest-posttest control group experimental design.
The validation results showed that the developed E-LKPD met the criteria for being highly valid, with an average material validation score of 92.4% and media validation score of 97.4%. Practicality testing indicated very positive responses from both teachers (87.9%) and students (90.5%), suggesting that the media was easy to use and engaging for learners. Effectiveness testing revealed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, as evidenced by the independent sample t-test with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) for both critical thinking and collaboration skills. The N-Gain score for critical thinking in the experimental group was 0.85 (high category), while the control group scored 0.59 (moderate category). For collaboration skills, the experimental group achieved an N-Gain

score of 0.40 and the control group 0.33, both categorized as moderate. Furthermore, the Spearman correlation test indicated a strong positive relationship between critical thinking ability and collaboration skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.754 and a significance value of 0.000.
Based on the overall findings, it can be concluded that the E-LKPD based on Problem-Based Learning with the Socio Scientific Issues approach developed in this study is valid in terms of content and media, received excellent responses from users, and is effective in improving students' critical thinking and collaboration skills in learning acid-base material. This product is feasible to be used as an alternative teaching material in chemistry learning that supports the achievement of 21st-century competencies and is expected to contribute to the development of more innovative, contextual, and humanistic learning media.
