Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a condition of narrowing of the spinal canal in the lumbar region that causes cauda equina syndrome. Surgery aims to restore patient’s function and quality of life. This study aims to determine the clinical outcomes of LSS patients after surgery at Arifin Achmad General Hospital Riau Province using the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire. A single-arm retrospective cohort study design was applied to patients who underwent surgery between January 2023 and December 2024. The study was conducted at Arifin Achmad General Hospital Riau Province from August to October 2025. Data were obtained from medical records and questionnaires completed through telephone interviews or self-administered Google Forms. There were 31 patients, consisting of 54.8% women and 45.2% men, mostly within the 50-59 age group (45.2%). L4-L5 was the lumbar segment most frequently affected by stenosis (71.0%). Patients who underwent a single operation within a 1-year period dominated (61.3%). The utility value increased from -0.144 (-0.787 – 0.615) to 0.705 (-0.671 – 1.000) (p < 0.0001). The EQ-VAS score also rosed from 35.77 ± 20.95 to 80.45 ± 14.45 (p < 0.001). In conclusion, surgical intervention in LSS patients significantly improved functional status and quality of life based on utility and EQ-VAS scores.
