Hubungan Antara Tekanan Intraokular Dengan Tekanan Darah Pada Pasien Wanita Usia Muda Di Poli Mata Satu Rumah Sakit Swasta Di Pekanbaru
Intraocular pressure is the pressure within the eyeball that depends on the balance between the production and drainage of aqueous humor, and it may be influenced by systemic factors such as blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the relationship between systolic and diastolic blood pressure and intraocular pressure among patients at the Ophthalmology Clinic of a private hospital in Pekanbaru. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach using secondary data from medical record. The sample consisted of 267 female patients aged 18 – 40 years who visited the clinic between February and July 2025. Data were analyzed using the spearman correlation test. The result showed that the mean systolic blood pressure was 116,6 ± 15 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure was 79,3 ± 11,2 mmHg, and intraocular pressure was 15,6 ± 3.07 mmHg. Bivariate analysis indicated, this study found no significant relationship between intraocular pressure and either systolic or diastolic blood pressure (P
=0,089) The homogeneity of the sample, which predominantly consisted of young adult females with normal blood pressure, may have influenced the result. Further research involving a more diverse population and controlling confounding factors such as body max index, corneal thickness and lifestyle is recommended.
