ABSTRACT
Townhouse housing is an efficient housing solution amidst limited urban land. In Pekanbaru, rapid urban growth demands a residential design concept that not only meets space needs but also pays attention to sustainability and environmental balance. This study aims to design a townhouse residential area with an organic architectural approach that emphasizes harmony between buildings, people, and the surrounding nature. This approach is realized through the integration of architectural forms that follow the characteristics of the site, the use of natural materials, and optimizing natural lighting and ventilation in accordance with the tropical climate. The design of townhouse housing provides benefits to improve environmental quality by optimizing green open spaces and creating healthier and more harmonious housing for its residents. The concept of cambium is applied as inspiration for the form and pattern of housing site development. The cambium growth layer on a tree trunk symbolizes the continuous growth process and the harmonious relationship between the inside and outside. The design of townhouse housing in Pekanbaru with an organic architectural approach with the cambium concept produces a residential area that is not only functional and efficient, but also has a strong, natural, and sustainable character.
