Perancangan Shopping Mall Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biofilik Di Kota Padangsidimpuan
ABSTRACT
Padangsidimpuan City is one of the locations of economic and trade activities in North Sumatra Province which experiences population growth every year. This affects the increasing needs of the community for various facilities including shopping centers, as well as the increasing population in need of employment. Currently, shopping centers in this city are still dominated by conventional concepts and no one has implemented a shopping center with a natural approach, even though this city is geographically surrounded by hills and green landscapes. Therefore, through the design of a shopping mall with a biophilic architecture approach as a multifunctional modern shopping center, in the form of shopping, entertainment and recreation facilities. This biophilic architecture approach creates a space that connects humans with nature through biophilic principles. This shopping mall can also be a place for the city's economic growth that can provide employment opportunities. This design uses the glass box method through systematic and structured steps. The concept of designing this shopping mall is “Breathing Through the Hills” inspired by the geographical landscape of Padangsidimpuan City which is surrounded by hills. By presenting a comfortable and attractive shopping space experience as if shopping in the middle of the forest and the outdoors.
