Pengaruh Ekstrak Daun Arenga Pinnata Terhadap Kadar Glukosa Darah Tikus Wistar
The sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is well known for its sap, which is processed into palm sugar. Leave extract of this tree also possesses potential antidiabetic properties that may help regulate blood glucose levels. Previous studies have shown that the phytochemical compounds contained in A. pinnata leaves such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and triterpenoids have the potential to reduce blood glucose levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of different doses of Arenga pinnata leaf extract on blood glucose levels in Wistar rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research used a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) design with 25 rats divided into five groups: normal control, positive control, and treatment groups receiving extract doses of 500 mg/kgBW, 1000 mg/kgBW, and 1500 mg/kgBW. Diabetes was induced using streptozotocin and nicotinamide, followed by 21 days of treatment. The results showed that all groups receiving the extract experienced a decrease in blood glucose levels. The group treated with a 1000 mg/kgBW dose demonstrated the most significant reduction. In conclusion, Arenga pinnata leaf extract effectively reduced blood glucose levels in Wistar rats induced with streptozotocin and nicotinamide.
