Hubungan Antara Asupan Protein Terhadap Kadar Hemoglobin Pada Remaja Penderita Obesitas Di SMA Kota Pekanbaru
The double burden of malnutrition is the simultaneous occurrence of undernutrition and overnutrition, a condition that is trending among adolescents. One of the nutritional problems resulting from this is obesity and iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia itself is influenced by protein intake. This study aims to analyze the characteristics, description of protein intake, hemoglobin levels, and the relationship between protein intake and hemoglobin levels. This research is an observational study with a cross-sectional method. The study was conducted from May to August 2025. The sample consisted of tenth and eleventh-grade students from SMAN 1, SMAN 4, SMAN 5, SMAN 8, and SMAN 12 in Pekanbaru City. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was protein intake, and the dependent variable was hemoglobin levels in obese adolescents. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that the majority of respondents had inadequate protein intake and the majority had hemoglobin levels in the anemic category. A significant relationship was found between protein intake and hemoglobin levels in adolescents (p=0.003). This study concludes that there is a relationship between protein intake and hemoglobin levels in obese adolescents. Therefore, it is recommended to establish collaboration and provide education with the health sector to improve protein intake among adolescents.
