Profil Pelayanan Anestesi Epidural Pada Pasien Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode Januari – Desember 2024
Epidural anesthesia is a commonly used neuraxial technique due to its ability to provide stable analgesia, attenuate surgical stress responses, and reduce opioid requirements. Its utilization varies according to patient characteristics, surgical types, and clinical considerations. This study aimed to describe the profile of epidural anesthesia services for surgical patients at Arifin Achmad General Hospital, Riau Province, in 2024. A retrospective descriptive design was conducted using medical record data from 51 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Variables assessed included sex, age, ASA physical status, type of surgery, operative duration, and anesthetic technique. Results showed that male patients accounted for 60.8% of cases, with the largest age group being >55 years (43.1%). Most patients were classified as ASA II (80.4%). Orthopedic procedures were the most frequent indication for epidural anesthesia (47,1%). Operative duration most commonly ranged from 121 to 240 minutes (60.8%). The most frequently used technique was single-shot epidural (64.7%), followed by combined epidural–spinal anesthesia (23.5%). This study indicates that epidural anesthesia is predominantly utilized in older patients, orthopedic surgeries, and individuals with mild-to- moderate systemic disease. The findings provide useful baseline data for evaluating and improving anesthesia service quality.
