Studi Eksperimental Penggunaan Aktivator Pada Fly Ash Sebagai Bahan Pengganti Semen Pada Ctb (Cement Treated Base)
ABSTRACT
This research is an experimental study that aims to evaluate the use of fly ash as a
cement substitute in Cement Treated Base (CTB) mixtures, using an alkali activator
as a binding agent. The fly ash used was derived from coal combustion waste and
was combined with an alkali solution consisting of sodium silicate (Na₂SiO₃) and
sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in three variations of alkali to fly ash ratios, namely
1.5:1, 2:1, and 2.5:1. All mixtures were tested for compressive strength at 7 days to
determine the effect of the alkali ratio on the mechanical strength of CTB. The test
results showed that the alkali ratio had a significant effect on the formation of bonds
in the CTB mixture. The 2:1 ratio produced the highest compressive strength value
compared to the other variations, indicating that this ratio is the optimum condition
for activating fly ash as a cement substitute. Based on these results, the use of fly
ash with alkali activator at a certain ratio can be an environmentally friendly and
economical alternative to conventional cement in road foundation layers.
