Gambaran Hasil Studi Konduksi Saraf Pada Pasien Neuropati Saraf Peroneal Di Provinsi Riau Periode 2023-2025
Peroneal neuropathy is one of the most common peripheral neuropathies affecting the lower extremities, which significantly impairs mobility and quality of life. Nerve conduction study (NCS) plays an essential role in determining the location and severity of nerve injury; however, local data in Riau Province remain limited. The objectives is to describe the findings of nerve conduction studies in patients with peroneal neuropathy in Riau Province during the 2023–2025 period. The methods used was a descriptive cross-sectional study using secondary data from NCS examinations conducted at Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital and Awal Bros Panam Hospital between August 2023 and November 2025. A total of 81 samples from 60 patients meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed based on motor parameters (distal latency, amplitude, conduction velocity, and F-wave latency) and sensory parameters (latency, amplitude, and conduction velocity). The results is most patients were male (56.7%) and adults aged 19–59 years (70%). The majority showed unilateral limb involvement (65%). The most common neuropathy type was axonopathy (75.3%), followed by demyelinating (14.8%) and mixed types (9.9%). Motor parameters showed abnormalities in motor amplitude (88.9%), distal latency (61.7%), and motor conduction velocity (77.8%), while F-wave prolongation occurred in 42% of cases. Sensory parameters were mostly normal, with sensory amplitude (39.5%) and distal latency (38.3%) abnormalities observed in some cases. In conclusion, peroneal neuropathy in Riau Province was more frequent among adult males, predominantly presenting as axonopathic type.
