This research aimed to investigate students’ perceptions of ice-breaking activities used by English teachers during the teaching process at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. The study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a questionnaire as the main instrument, consisting of 25 items distributed to 162 students. The questionnaire covered five sub-indicators: classroom atmosphere, focus and concentration, understanding of material, social interaction and communication, and self-confidence and participation. The overall mean score was 3.28, indicating that students generally had moderately positive perceptions toward the use of ice-breaking activities in English learning. Among the five sub-indicators, classroom atmosphere obtained the highest mean score (3.63), which shows that students tended to perceive ice-breaking activities as creating a fun and engaging classroom climate. Meanwhile, the other sub-indicators showed neutral perceptions. These findings confirm that students’ perceptions toward ice-breaking activities are dominantly positive in the affective aspect, while remaining neutral in cognitive and communicative dimensions.
