Lotion Antinyamuk Berbahan Dasar Kulit Jeruk Manis Dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Kulit Nanas
ABSTRACT
Pineapple peel can be used as a natural ingredient in making mosquitorepellent
lotion because it contains many secondary metabolite compounds. The
effectiveness of using pineapple skin extract as a raw material for making mosquito
repellent lotion is not yet known, so it is necessary to add other natural ingredients
that are known to be effective in making mosquito repellent lotion, one of which is
sweet orange peel. This study aimed to determine the appropriate concentration of
pineapple peel extract addition to obtain the best characteristics and effectiveness
of mosquito repellent lotion. The research was carried out experimentally using a
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of five treatments and
three replications, with pineapple peel extract concentrations of 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%
and 6%. Observations in this study were homogeneity, acidity degree, viscosity,
dispersing power, irritation test, and protective power against mosquitoes. The data
obtained was analyzed statistically using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), then
analyzed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results
showed that the addition of pineapple peel extract with five treatments had a
significant effect on pH, viscosity, spreadability, and homogeneity. The selected
treatment was 6% concentration of pineapple peel extract, providing homogeneous
physical characteristics of the lotion preparation, a pH value of 7.89, a viscosity
value of 2131.02 cP, a spread ability value of 6.98 cm, and mosquito protection
power 88.64%.
