The purpose of this study is to assess and analyze the effect of student discipline in extracurricular activities on academic achievement at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. After conducting this research, it is expected to provide benefits. The benefits of this research are divided into two: theoretical benefits and practical benefits. The theoretical benefits of this research result can help schools to understand more deeply how student discipline in extracurricular activities can affect their academic achievement. Thus, schools can optimize existing extracurricular programs or develop new, more effective programs according to student needs and interests. And the practical benefit of this research result is that it can contribute to the development or testing of existing theories regarding the influence between extracurricular activities and academic achievement. This provides an opportunity for researchers to explore and refine their understanding of how non-academic activities affect student academic achievement. This type of research is ex-post facto with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 89 students of SMA N 10 Pekanbaru. The sampling technique used Simple Random Sampling is a method of drawing from a population or universe in a certain way so that each member of the population or universe has an equal chance of being selected or taken, using the Slovin formula, so the sample was 47 students of SMA N 10 Pekanbaru. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire, namely student discipline. The instrument writing went through several stages, namely: 1) reviewing all theories related to the variables to be studied, 2) compiling indicators for each variable, 3) compiling a grid, 4) compiling statement items and determining the measurement scale, 5) testing the instrument, 6) analyzing the questions by testing the validity and reliability of each statement item. Meanwhile, the learning achievement variable used the average report card scores of students at SMA N 10 Pekanbaru. Based on descriptive analysis based on variables, the level of student learning achievement at SMA N 10 Pekanbaru was obtained with a mean of 87.58 which is in a very high interpretation. Based on descriptive analysis based on variables, the level of student discipline at SMA N 10 Pekanbaru was obtained with a mean of 3.01 which is in a moderate interpretation.
The conclusions of this study are: 1) The student discipline level was 3.01, which is considered high, meaning that 1.99% of the difference is due to other factors not included in this study. Student discipline refers to the extent of support provided to students to improve their academic achievement. 2) The student achievement level was 87.58, which is considered very high, meaning that 12.42% of the difference is due to other factors not included in this study. Higher student achievement, in the form of a high average report card score, indicates a high level of ability to carry out learning activities. 3) There is a positive and significant influence between student discipline (X) and student academic achievement (Y) at SMAN10 Pekanbaru. High student discipline leads to high academic achievement. Low student discipline leads to low academic achievement. The recommendations of this research are: 1) Students of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru are expected to maintain student discipline in extracurricular activities so that the level of learning achievement of students of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru is higher, 2) Students of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru, so that learning achievement can be maintained and even increased higher than before, 3) For further researchers, it is hoped to examine other variables.
