Hubungan Komitmen Dan Kompetensi Terhadap Kinerja Penyuluh Pertanian Di Kota Dumai
ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the level of commitment, competence, and
performance of agricultural extension workers in Dumai City, as well as to test the
relationship between these variables. Agricultural extension workers play a crucial
role in increasing farmer productivity and welfare, but those in Dumai City face
various challenges such as limited resources and climate change. Therefore, it is
important to measure how much internal factors such as commitment and
competence influence their performance. This research used a survey method with a
census approach, involving 31 agricultural extension workers (Civil Servants,
PPPK, and honorer) as respondents in Dumai City. Primary data was collected
through questionnaires and interviews, and then analyzed using the Likert Scale
and the Rank Spearman correlation test.
The results indicate that the overall level of commitment, competence, and
performance of the extension workers are in the Good category. Correlation
analysis found that all dimensions of commitment (Affective, Continuance, and
Normative) have a positive and significant relationship with the technical and
managerial competence of extension workers. Affective Commitment had the
strongest relationship with technical competence (0.726). Furthermore, all
commitment dimensions were also proven to have a positive and significant
relationship with extension workers' performance at the preparation,
implementation, and evaluation/reporting stages. Similarly, both technical and
managerial competencies were found to have a strong and significant positive
relationship with extension implementation performance (0.694 and 0.623). In
conclusion, commitment and competence significantly determine the effectiveness
of agricultural extension workers' performance.
