Pengendalian Oil Losses Pada Pengolahan Crude Palm Oil (Cpo) Di Ptpn IV Regional III Pks Lubuk Dalam Palmco
ABSTRACT
Oil losses control was considered a key focus in crude palm oil (CPO) processing
as it had a direct impact on production efficiency and company profitability.
Excessive oil losses not only resulted in economic disadvantages due to the loss of
valuable products but also indicated weaknesses in the production system, including
machinery, processing methods, and workforce performance. Quality control was
carried out periodically to ensure that the process was running properly. The
research was conducted to evaluate and recommend appropriate control measures
for reducing oil losses in press cake at PTPN IV Regional III PKS Lubuk Dalam
Palmco. It was carried out in Lubuk Dalam District, Siak Regency, Riau Province,
applying both qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches. The qualitative
approach was used to identify contributing factors through discussions with
company personnel. The causes included inadequate hydraulic pressure, poor
sterilization quality of the fresh fruit bunches, screw press machine wear, digester
knives wear, and limitations in operator skills. The quantitative analysis applied
pairwise comparison to rank the proposed solutions based on priority. The study
concluded with three main recommendations: preventing steam leakage during
sterilization, ensuring optimal sterilization pressure and time, and implementing a
consistent maintenance schedule.
