ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the productivity of wood harvesting at PT.
Perawang Sukses Perkasa Industri (PSPI) Lipat Kain District and the
implementation of the Reduce Impact Logging (RIL) technique. The RIL technique
is expected to improve harvesting efficiency and minimize negative environmental
impacts. The study used a descriptive quantitative method with data collection
through field observation and surveys. The results showed that the productivity of
wood harvesting varied depending on the type of activity and the harvesting block
used, with the highest productivity found in bunching and loading activities in
blocks II and III. The implementation of RIL proved effective in reducing soil and
vegetation damage while increasing work efficiency, especially in activities such
as felling, extraction, and loading. However, the study also found that high
operational costs due to intensive heavy equipment use posed a challenge in
improving harvesting efficiency. Therefore, further research on cost analysis,
equipment maintenance, and road infrastructure is needed to enhance the
effectiveness and efficiency of wood harvesting in a sustainable manner.
