Analisis Postur Kerja Pemuat Buah Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Metode Rapid Upper Limb Assesment (Rula) Berbasis Aplikasi Ergofellow Di Pt Xyz, Sumatera Utara
ABSTRACT
The activity of loading fresh fruit bunches (FFB) in PT XYZ is still carried out
manually using simple tools such as a T-hook or tojok. Non-ergonomic working
postures and heavy physical workload have the potential to cause Musculoskeletal
Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to analyze the level of postural risk using the
Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method assisted by the Ergofellow
application, assess the severity of MSD complaints using the Nordic Body Map
(NBM) questionnaire, measure the physical workload of palm oil fruit loaders, and
determine appropriate improvement recommendations. This research was
conducted using a descriptive quantitative design involving 30 workers through
interviews, questionnaires, and pulse rate measurements using a pulse oximeter.
The results of the RULA analysis support the questionnaire findings, showing that
workers often adopt non-neutral postures such as trunk flexion (80%), elevated
upper arms above shoulder height (73%), and neck flexion (76%), with final scores
ranging from 6 to 7 (action level 3–4). The Nordic Body Map assessment indicates
that the most frequently reported complaints were left shoulder (85%), left wrist
(79%), left upper arm (73%), left forearm (79%), and left knee (88%). The physical
workload reached 658.64 kcal/hour (heavy category), with an average %CVL of
47% (moderate category), indicating the need for improvement due to worker
fatigue. The study recommends postural improvements by reducing forward
bending through squat or semi-squat techniques, maintaining arm positions below
shoulder level, modifying work tools such as ergonomic tojok with non-slip handles,
and implementing active rest schedules of 10–15 minutes every 1–2 hours along
with adequate energy intake, including fast-absorbing carbohydrates and protein
during breaks.
