Struktur Komunitas Gastropoda Di Perairan Sungai Indragiri Desa Koto Gunung Kecamatan Gunung Toar Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi

This study aimed to determine the structure of the gastropod community and to analyze the influence of environmental factors such as substrate type, water quality, and habitat conditions on its distribution in the Indragiri River, Koto Gunung Village. The research was conducted from May to July 2025 using a survey method. Sampling stations were determined using a purposive sampling approach based on differences in environmental characteristics. Gastropod samples were collected using a Van Veen Grab with dimesnions of 20×15 cm. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculation abundance, relative abundance, diversity index (H’), dominance index (C), and evenness index (E), as well as using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to identify the environmental factors that most strongly influence the structure of the gastropod community. The results showed that four gastropod species were identified; Melanoides tuberculata, Tarebia granifera, Brotia costula, and Bellamya javanica. The abundance values ranged from 83.89–141.11 ind/m², with the highest abundance at Station 1 and the lowest at Station 3. Station 1 had a sandy-mud substrate with high organic matter content and better water quality, while Station 3 had a gravel-sand substrate with low organic matter content and stronger current velocity. The diversity index (H’) ranged from 1.526–1.906, the dominance index (C) from 0.285–0.361, and the evenness index (E) from 0.953–0.969, indicating a stable and evenly distributed community. Based on the PCA results, the environmental factors that most strongly influenced gastropod abundance were temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), organic matter, and substrate type, while current velocity and turbidity showed negative correlations. Variations in abundance among stations were also influenced by anthropogenic activities around the river.
