Uji Daya Predasi Coccinella Transversalis Fabricius. Terhadap Planococcus Minor Maskell Hama Tanaman Kakao Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is an important plantation commodity with high economic value as a raw material for food and non-food industries. One obstacle in cocoa cultivation is the attack of white scale insects (Planococcus minor Maskell), which damage young fruits and reduce yield quality. The predator Coccinella transversalis Fabricius. can be used as a natural alternative control for P. minor. This study aims to determine predation rate of C. transversalis against P. minor, cocoa plant pest, in laboratory. The study was conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, over a three-month period from January to March 2025. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replicates. The results showed that the predator C. transversalis was able to prey on P. minor nymphs. The provision of two female predators resulted in a predation rate of 47.50 nymphs with a predation percentage of 95%. The provision of a pair of predators and one female resulted in the same predation rate of 45.00 nymphs with a predation percentage of 90%. The provision of two males resulted in a predation rate of 44.50 nymphs with a predation percentage of 89%.
