Studi Komparatif Biologi Reproduksi Dan Pola Lingkaran Pertumbuhan Pada Otolith Ikan Kapiek (Barbodes Schwanenfeldii) Di Sungai Meranti Dan Rawabarak panjang kabupaten padang lawas utara
Barbodes schwanenfeldii was found in the Meranti River (flowing water) and in the Barak Panjang Swamp (static water). Water condition differences may affects the biological aspects of fish, including the reproduction and growth aspects that is reflected in the otolith growth ring pattern. To understand these biological aspects, a study has been conducted on May-July 2025. The reproductive biology aspects were investigated by studying the morphological and anatomical characteristics of the fish, while the growth of the fish was studied through their otolith growth ring patterns. There were 67 fishes captured, 48 fishes from the river, consisted of 23 males and 25 females, 80-335mm TL, 8-612g BW, 1:1.09 sex ratio, 1st– 4th maturity stages, 0.44-1.80% maturity stage index (male) and 0.50-12.34% (females), fecundity 16,363.24-139,300.38 eggs/female and egg diameter 0.35-1.01mm. The fish from the swamp, however, was relatively fewer and smaller. There were only 19 fishes captured, 10 males and 9 females, 13-246mm TL and 12-249g BW, sex ratio 1:0.9, 1st to 3rd maturity stages, 0.50-0.80% maturity index values (males) and 0.24-3.44% (females), egg diameter 0.35-0.53 mm. As the different sized eggs were well distributed in the ovary, it is predicted that B.schwanenfeldii can be categorized as a whole spawner fish. The fecundity can notbecounted as therewas no fish in 4th maturity stage. Thenumber of dark growth rings in the otolith of fish from both areas was 1-3, indicated they ever faced environmental related problems that hampered their growth.
