Pola Lingkaran Pertumbuhan Pada Otolith Ikan Bujuk (Channa Lucius Cuvier, 1831) Di Danau Oxbow Sepunjung Desa Rantau Baru Kabupaten Pelalawan Provinsi Riau
Channa lucius inhabit the Sepunjung Oxbow Lake. Nowadays, however, large fish was almost none and only small sized fishes present. As there is fish capture activities and polutant present in the lake, it is necessary to understand the life of the fish in the lake, whether the fish is suffer from the water quality decrement and they do not grow well or the fish growing well but the larger sized fish was captured. A study aims to understand the otolith growth ring pattern was conducted on March – June 2025. The fishes were sampled from the Sepunjung Lake and their otolith (sagita) were removed, attached in slide glasses using Crystalbond 509-3 and manually shaved. The otolith growth ring pattern was then studied using a binocular microscope. There were 56 fishes captured (32 males and 24 females). Among the fish capture, only 33 of them having dark rings in their otolith. There is a significant relationship between total length and otolith (R2 > 0.5 and r > 0.7). Distance between nucleus and the first dark ring ranged between 0.275 – 1.225 mm and it is not related to the fish size. Data obtained shown that the formation of the otolith’s dark ring is individual and the dark rings data also shown that the live of fish in the Sepunjung Lake is good and thus the rarity of the bigger sized fishes may not be caused by the decrement of water quality, instead it is caused by fish captured activities.
