Pola Sebaran Dan Kepadatan Kerang Kepah (Meretrix Meretrix) Di Zona Intertidal Pantai Sepahat Kecamatan Bandar Laksamana Kabupaten Bengkalis
The kerang kepah (Meretrix meretrix) is a bivalve mollusk species, characterized by a smooth shell that is white, brownish, to dark brownish-black in color. However, information regarding it’s population status and the influencing environmental factors remains limited. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the density of the kerang kepah (Meretrix meretrix) and the sediment organic matter content. A survey method was employed using simple random sampling in the intertidal zones of three different stations. The results showed significant variations in environmental conditions among the stations. Station 3 recorded the most extreme conditions, with the highest sediment organic matter (12-15%), dominance of mud (>76%), and the lowest pH (6.25). Although the highest density was found at Station 3 (1.3-1.5 ind/m²), an analysis of the size structure revealed recruitment failure, indicated by the absence of small individuals (
