Pola Dan Perilaku Konsumsi Bawang Merah Oleh Rumahtangga Peserta Program Keluarga Harapan Di Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the consumption patterns of shallots among
households participating in the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) in Pekanbaru
City based on household size, the education level of the mother or household head,
and type of employment. The research also identifies dominant factors, their
responses, and examines the impact of price and income changes on shallot
consumption. The variables examined include the price of shallots, prices of other
food commodities, household size, education, and employment type, using 315
PKH households as respondents. The results show that larger household size and
higher education levels are associated with lower shallot consumption, while
households with formal-sector employment consume more. Significant factors
influencing consumption include the prices of shallots, onions, pepper, broiler
chicken meat, household size, and employment type. Elasticity values indicate that
the prices of shallots, onions, pepper, broiler chicken meat, and income are inelastic.
Shallots are classified as normal goods, while onions, pepper, and broiler chicken
meat act as complements. Simulation results show that shallot consumption is most
sensitive to price increases in shallots, while income growth helps reduce the
negative impact of rising prices.
