Rancangan Pabrik Hexamine Proses Meissner dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Hexamine (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Hexamine (C6H12N4) is a strategic chemical that is widely used in the production of resins, explosives, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and various national downstream industries. The continuously increasing domestic demand is still dominated by imported products, so the establishment of a hexamine plant in Indonesia is very important to reduce import dependence as well as to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic raw material industry. The hexamine plant is planned to be built in Klari District, Karawang Regency, West Java Province in 2031. The hexamine plant is designed with a capacity of 41,000 tons per year using formaldehyde and ammonia as raw materials, employing a Bubble Column Reactor (BCR) based on the Meissner process, operating at a reaction temperature of 80°C and a pressure of 1 atm. The process runs continuously, starting from raw material preparation, the reaction stage in the BCR, separation of reaction products, up to product purification, supported by integrated modern utility and instrumentation systems.
TheselectionofBCRisbasedonitsmasstransferefficiency,easeoftemperatureandpressure control, and an optimal level of work safety under atmospheric operation. The automatic instrumentation system focuses on controlling temperature, pressure, and liquid level variables so that product quality and operational stability can be consistently maintained. The plant utilities include water units, steam, and electrical energy.
From the profitability analysis of the hexamine plant, a Break Even Point (BEP) of 40%, a Return on Investment (ROI) of 29%, a Payback Period (PBP) of 2.6 years, a Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp 2,893,472,418,075.87, and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.18% were obtained. Based on these results, the Meissner-process hexamine plant is considered feasible to establish and is projected to provide a significant contribution to import substitution as well as to strengthening the structure of the national upstream chemical industry.
